I'm Wolfgang, and in this sector of cyberspace, I'm going to explore many facets of trans life. Here, in the 21st Century, humanity is slowly awakening to its own diversity, and old binary systems of thought are fading into history. The most ancient of these, the rigid division between male and female, began to erode under the pressures of the women's movement. Later, the gay and lesbian civil rights movement further propelled our society toward sex equality, and continues its tireless and courageous quest. The trans community carries it the last frontier, away from the simplistic and unnatural philosophy of a static binary to the complex philosophy of continuums and change represented throughout God's creation.
Just as we need only to look at the developing embryo of any species to gain a basic understanding of Creation's evolution, the same illustrates the intersection of male and female. Prior to eight weeks of age, all human fetuses are identical, essentially female. At about eight weeks, the XY chromosome fetus begins to transition to male and the XX continues to develop along the default path. Chromosomal anomalies produce a variety of sexes. Hormonal disturbances in the womb can alter sexes, sexual orientations and gender identities in developing fetuses.
Nature is messy. Countless religious founders and authors throughout history have attempted to put order to the mess. The imposition of such order had led to the persecution of those who didn't conform to its parameters. Even today, at least 50,000 years after the birth of homo sapiens, our collective impulse to crush that which defies the illusion of catagorization still rears it's ugly head. Ignorance is our archenemy. It produces nothing of value to the human soul, thwarts intellectual and technological progress, reduces us to the base of Earth's most primitive life forms and imprisons that most precious of all human resources--the mind.
But we also harbor the collective impulse toward an endless search for truth. That can only be gained through knowledge. Whether we tentatively test the waters or fearlessly plumb the depths, we defy ignorance with every act of seeking. Through the pursuit of knowledge, each individual in some way, large or small, will raise the awareness of the whole. Collective humanity is but the sum of billions of individuals, and we all play a part in the evolution of human knowledge.
Every culture has a story, a history (lit. "his story"). Trans culture is small compared to many others. Current statistics estimate that only one trans individual exists for every 30,000 people. Until quite recently, the wider world knew little if anything about us, but our community is gradually changing that, making an ever increasing volume of knowledge available through print media and the internet. We all have something to add to our story--for the present and future children on the road behind us.
